Economics for Business Macroeconomics.

Question: Talk about a Case Study on Economics for Business in Macroeconomics. ? Answer: 1. The principle target of the investigation of macroeconomics is to gauge the size of the entire economy. How enormous is the UK economy is can be gauges by the total national output (GDP) (Abel, Bernanke and Croushore, 2011). Aside from that, the word total national output alludes to the estimation of the considerable number of administrations and last merchandise in a nation in a specific timespan. Each market exchanges are remembered for the GDP. The market exchanges incorporate both the exchanges from customer and the dealers. The Gross Domestic item or GDP is estimated by the market estimation of the absolute buy in UK in a specific year or the market estimation of the all out creation in UK in a specific year. The United Kingdom (UK) is getting position of the fifth across the nation economy and the second biggest in the Europe. This has been estimated by the ostensible Gross Domestic Product. Ninth biggest economy in the World and the third biggest in the Europe and this have been finished up by PPP or the buying power equality (Abel, Bernanke and Croushore, 2014). UK was the in the ninth biggest situation in the exporter nations on the planet in 2014. UK is the most globalized economy on the planet. In the economy of UK, the administration division assumes a prevailing job. The administration division in UK contributes around 78% in the complete GDP. London is the biggest money related focus on the planet. Along these lines, the budgetary assistance area is huge in the UK economy. Financial development Financial development is only the expansion in the market esteem (swelling balanced) of the considerable number of administrations and products created in a nation in a specific or explicit period time. The monetary development is commonly estimated by the rate increment in the GDP or the gross residential items. It is likewise estimated by Gross Domestic Product per capita or per capita salary level. An ascent in the per capita Gross Domestic Product or per capita pay demonstrates the development in the economy. A monetary development can be occurred by the productive utilization of the assets accessible in the nation (Blanchard, 2010). Financial development is commonly estimated in the genuine terms as opposed to in the money related terms. So the marker of the financial development is by and large expansion balanced. Estimating the financial development level is a significant thing (Clarida and Giavazzi, 2011). The estimation of monetary development consistently shows the condition just as the financial circumstance of a nation. Estimation of financial development The financial development estimated by the interest side of the GDP. The interest side of GDP comprises of four segments, for example, utilization or buyer spending, venture or business spending, government spending or government consumption and spending on net exports(Colander, 2013). The asset investigation additionally has negative impact on the earth. The investigation procedure dirties the air. So there happens air contamination. The preparing of oil influences the air just as water seriously. Such a significant number of contaminates are spreading noticeable all around just as water. Utilization use The family of a nation leads the utilization use. The utilization use possesses the best part in the GDP. The utilization consumption represents two third of the absolute GDP in the nation UK. So this uncovers the choice assume a noteworthy job in the economy(Dornbusch, Fischer and Startz, 2014). The customer spending is called as a delicate elephant as it doesn't jump up out of nowhere. It is commonly seen over the timeframe. Speculation use The speculation use incorporates the use engaged with the acquisition of the gear and the physical plant required for the business. In the event that any business association is growing, for example, opening of new stores or new advancements or new apparatus, at that point the speculation consumption takes place(Frankel and Pissarides, 2012). The venture consumption takes around 15 % to 18 % of the absolute GDP level. Be that as it may, this is significant or extremely huge for the development of the general economy as it makes new business. The venture use vacillates more than the utilization consumption. The speculation of the business associations are a lot of unpredictable, so the venture use likewise extremely unstable. It isn't sure that in consistently, there will occur a few new advancements or opening up of new stores. So the venture isn't the equivalent in consistently. Government spending or government use On the off chance that the administration needs to dispatch any social spending, at that point it will be remembered for the administration consumption (GaãÅ"ë†rtner, n.d.). In UK it is about 20% of the all out GDP. The administration spending comprises of a few degrees of government, for example, nearby, state and bureaucratic. On the off chance that the administration takes upon a venture for social government assistance, that will be remembered for the administration use. Some model can be offered here to expound the idea, for instance, development of new extension, interstates, air terminals and so forth in the interest side of the GDP incorporates the buys led by the administration. Fundamental pieces of the financial plans of Government are a few exchange installments, for example, joblessness benefits, standardized savings given to the retirees and veterans benefits. These uses that is the exchange installments are removed from GDP as the administration doesn't acquire any new great or administration in return (Gordon, 2012). In this area the interest for the household merchandise in the worldwide are to be talked about. To do this, it ought to be thought about that the products created locally have been sold in the abroad. This implies the fares of the nation. It ought to likewise consider the imports that mean the merchandise and enterprises bought by UK from the remainder of the world. The benefit of spending on import must be deducted (Gottfries, 2012). This can be tallied by the net fares (NX). The net fares are determined by hole between the complete fare and the all out import. Emblematically, NX = (X M). This hole is commonly known as the exchange balance. In the event that the fares of a nation are more prominent than the imports, at that point there exists exchange overflow. On the hand, in the event that imports are more prominent than the fares, at that point there exists exchange deficiency. There are five classifications of the products and ventures in the GDP. Those are, to be specific sturdy products, nondurable merchandise, inventories, structures and administrations. The tough products are alluded to those merchandise which have a long longevity(Hubbard and O'Brien, 2010). A few models are vehicle, house, apparatuses and so on. The nondurable products are those merchandise which have a little life expectancy. A few instances of nondurable products are food, garments and so on. The structure incorporates the lodging, structures, industrial facilities shopping centers and so forth. Inventories are characterized as the wares that are made by one industry however not yet offered to clients. The administrations incorporate a few administrations sold in the market, for example, the administration of specialist, nurture, legitimate supporter and so on. The segment administration takes a significant part in the GDP of UK. Issues There are a few issues associated with the estimation of GDP. () contended that GDP is characterized as the present market estimation of whole administrations and merchandise that delivered in the nation particularly in United realm in a period. The idea of definite merchandise and the middle products are befuddling (Hubbard and O'Brien, 2013). The last merchandise are those, which are taking into the market available to be purchased. Then again, the halfway merchandise are those products, which are utilized underway procedure of different merchandise. Presently, the confounding part is that, the last great of an organization is utilized as halfway great of the other organization. So there emerges an issue of twofold tallying. To stay away from the issue of twofold checking, the analysts consistently considers the last merchandise and ventures. The analysts of government considers the estimation of the last item or administrations in a creation chain, which are sold in the market for utilization. Those merchandise, which are utilized in the creation chain are halfway products and avoided from the count of GDP(Hubbard, O'Brien and Sharma, 2012). Here is a plain type of what is incorporated and what are avoided in the tallying of GDP. Checking GDP Checked excluded Utilization Middle of the road merchandise Government spending on merchandise and ventures Illicit merchandise Business venture Utilized merchandise Net fares Move installments and non-advertise exercises Some different measures: There are additionally some different measures for the estimation of the monetary development. Those are as per the following: Net National Product (NNP), Gross National Product (GNP), and so on. These ideas are talked about here in this segment (Jones, 2010). GNP (Gross National Product) The gross national item (GNP) incorporates the merchandise and enterprises delivered inside a nation deducted from the outside exchanges or exchange to the abroad (Krugman and Wells, 2013). This can be appeared by the accompanying recipe: GNP = GDP Foreign exchange NNP (Net National Product) Net national item is determined by the taking away the devaluation from the GNP. (Krugman and Wells, 2012) This can be appeared by the accompanying equation: NNP = GNP - Depreciation 2: There are two devices for deciding the financial development, for example, monetary and monitory approach. At the point when utilized appropriately, they can have the same results in both inspiringeconomyand moderate it descending when it warmth up (Mankiw, 2010). The proceeding with purposeful is that, which one is extra useful over the long haul just as in the short run. Monetary Policy Monetary strategy is utilized by the administration. The administration approaches to take care of any financial issue is called monetary strategy. The administration may spend or duty to impact any risky circumstance in the economy and right it appropriately (Mankiw, 2013). The association and the mix of the income procured by government and t

The Media (Books, Film, Music, Television, for Example Essay In the event that to make esteem intends to make absolutely new worth that never exist in its present society, media is difficult to make esteem. Media is constantly gotten from our general public, so it generally reflects and show the worth as of now exist in our general public. In any case, some significant works won't Just basically reflect esteem, yet remove esteems from our general public, fortify it and afterward can influence the estimation of our general public, which will cause individuals to consider this works make esteem. One inborn explanation that make media consistently mirror the estimation of current society is, their writers originate from the present society, who are as of now profoundly influenced by the alue around them. One model is the thing that individuals like and feel in various occasions reflect in the music. 100 years prior, when more individuals live in the nations, life is progressively serene, and individuals increasingly like calm and straightforward life, down home music are well known. At time that, the verse of the blue grass music mirror the serene and straightforward life individuals appreciate. Be that as it may, these days, in our cutting edge life, an ever increasing number of individuals live in present day city, swarmed, uproarious and unpleasant, which drive individuals all the more effectively feel crazy and long for discharge. In some strict nations, individuals think about sex as an untouchable. Individuals tend to not discuss it out in the open. So it is difficult to see creators portray sex unequivocally in their works, no notice that open media will advertize this point. Just to state, books, music and a wide range of various works and worth consistently mirror the estimation of the present society in their time and zone. In the event that esteem absolutely never exist in the general public, new incentive in media can't be made or spread there. Albeit all works mirror the estimation of the present society, the significant works would concentrate and feature the worth, and apply it to influence the general public where it originates from. For instance, in renaissance times, heaps of savants, scholars and sociologists made attempts to diffuse their worth, similar to individuals are on the whole equivalent, individuals have the privilege ince their introduction to the world. This worth has long and profound impact on the open individuals that affected individuals to stand up and oppose the special class. In aggregate, all media originate from society so mirror the worth where they are inferred. Be that as it may, in some degree, some significant works can reinforce the worth and influence the general public.

Forensic Evidence Example

Forensic Evidence Example Forensic Evidence â€" Essay Example > Forensic EvidenceAnalysis of the reasons why such a high proportion of evidence is of no value in volume and major crimeIntroductionEvidence can be divided into two broad types. Testimonial evidence is given in the form of statements made under oath, typically in response to questioning. On the other hand, physical evidence is any form of evidence with an objective existence, which is anything with size, shape, and dimension. Physical evidence can take any form. It can be as huge as a house or as small as a fibre. It can be as short-lived as an odour or as noticeable as the scene of an explosion. In fact, the assortment of physical evidence that may be encountered in an investigation is unlimited. In a UK study, physical evidence forms a third major source for pinpointing a suspect or substantiating his or her presence at the scene. Considering the fact the physical evidence in an investigation is infinite, only some of these are of real use or value and majority of materials from the crime scenes is disposed. The reason why such a high proportion of evidence is of no value in volume and major crime is the subject of our analysis. Physical Evidence GatheringThe aim of crime scene investigator should be not to ignore anything providing significant information, which may contribute to solving the crime under investigation. There are many variety of physical evidence that do not lend themselves to statistical evaluation as it is not the volume of data presented that would support an estimate of the frequency in which a particular type of physical evidence might be encountered. A successful crime scene investigation is judged by the outcome obtained. A crime scene investigator must recognize, gather, and make use of every piece of physical evidence that may be present while recognizing that helpful evidence could be hiding somewhere among a multitude of worthless materials (Newburn et. al. 2007, p. 244). Nature and Value of Physical EvidenceThe nature and valu e of physical evidence can be classified into two. These are evidence with class characteristics only and evidence with individual identifying characteristics. The first one are those evidence, no matter how thoroughly examined, can only be place into a class. A definite identification can never be made since there is a possibility of more than one source for the material found. For instance, single-layered paint, such as from a safe or car, soil, glass fragments too small to match broken edges, hairs and fibres, etc. The other one is evidence that can definitely be identified with a person or source if sufficient microscopic or accidental markings are present such as fingerprints, handwriting, bullets, tool marks, shoe prints, pieces of glass where broken edges can be matched, and wood where broken/cut surfaces can be matched (Hunter and Cox 2005, p. 170). The Need to Gather Sufficient Evidence from the Crime SceneIn forensic investigation, adequate materials should be gathered. Considering the amount of sample to collect is basically an issue of familiarity. As a universal rule, however, as much material as is practically possible to collect should be taken. Usually, it is unfeasible and sometimes impracticable to return to a crime scene later to collect more material if more evidence is required. Thus, generally, more is better than less (Fisher 2003, p. 11). Forensic evidence starts at the scene. If evidence is overlooked or inappropriately taken cared of at the scene, no amount of laboratory analysis or processing will be able to correct the problem and the scene typically cannot be revisited to have another attempt at acquiring further evidence (White 2004, p. 21).

Essay On Different Styles Of Writing To Different Audience

Different Styles of Writing and Appealing to Different Audiences The years a child spends in elementary are crucial because their teachers will essentially lay down the foundation for learning, as well as stimulate an interest in growing knowledge. The various subjects students are taught include math, science, English language arts, and history. However, within those subjects, there are skills that students need to learn and master so they can be efficient learners. Each subject contains its challenges, but with great teachers, students will be able to develop the adequate skills to make them successful in subjects they find challenging. I will be focusing on why students struggle with writing and the methods they are taught in order to†¦show more content†¦With that being said, it is very difficult for teachers to go into the field and teach children a skill that they lack proper practice in themselves. How and Who to Write To Approach to Writing In addition, the way in which students approach writing essays will determine how great of an essay they write. Students who are given the sufficient information, time, and tools to prepare them to compose a well-written piece of work, are more often confident with their writing skills. For example, providing students with a rubric is a way for students to have an idea of how they will approach their essay. The rubric approach is has evolved from spelling, punctuation, and grammar to focusing on the aspects of writing such as voice, purpose, and organization (Bridge, Compton-Hall Cantrell, 1997). Understanding that writing requires plenty of practice and development is key, but also knowing that as the students progress through elementary so will their writing. Typically children are taught writing through a process that usually contains five steps: prewriting, drafting, revising, editing, and publishing. A lot of urbanization was happening in the Industrial Revolution, and this caused many people just moved from the countryside to growing industrial cities. Others moved from Britain to another or from a different country into Britain. There was a big population increase due to the urbanization in Britain. Fast developing iron, coal and textile industries were creating new work. New work meant that more workers were needed, and so more people needed a place to live. However, during the 1830s and 1840, the number of people leaving Britain increased rapidly. These people moved for either the US or for parts of the British Empire. During these years, many people suffered from low wages and unemployment and high bread prices, which caused many people to starve. In 1837, some poor people from the village of Besthorpe wrote a letter saying that they wanted to move out of Britain. The main reasons were starvation and poverty. They said that they knew things couldn’t be worse somewhere else, and that they couldn’t be worse off than they already were. The letter also said that there were farmers who were able to work, but couldn’t get employed. This showed that the cities were probably a bit over populated, and therefore, there were too many people to employ for work in factories. Theory of Constraints And Project Management free essay sample

The goal of every project is to make profit. The sooner the project is completed, at least by the deadline, the better it is for the project to accrue its potential benefits -and vice versa. Constraints, negatively affect project goals. In the triple-constraints (time, cost, scope), time remained the most impacting constraint to projects. The critical chain resolved this issue by removing protection time from tasks, aggregating them into feeding and project buffers, and placing them in strategic locations within the project etwork where they will serve to protect the project as a whole. This way, the fixed elements of each task is the aggressive but possible estimate, whilst the variable components are called safety. The safety is managed and adjusted time after time to the needs of the schedule. However, time is not the only constraint affecting projects, and the technique of Theory of Constraint (TOC) deals with these constraints to optimize project performance. We will write a custom essay sample on Theory of Constraints And Project Management or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page While applying TOC the project manager first and foremost, identifies the most important factor that constraints the project in that stage of development. This is done by continuous assessment of the project and process management to recognize the most pressing constraint. For in any given project scenario, there are constraint of resource, quality etc that present challenges to projects success. To avoid applying the right solution to wrong problem however, the project manager above all pinpoints, through the technique of TOC, the number one constraint that has the potential to derail the project. Then, supposing after the initial assessment the issue turns out to be one of a resource constraint the project manager takes advantages of the drawback. For instance, if the resource is equipment that does not produce to a required capacity at a given time, it will be scheduled to work around the clock, overtime, nights and weekends. Then, there will be the use of resource buffers -where resources are put on the alert well before they are scheduled to work on the critical path. In this case, the manager makes sure the constraint has sufficiently been exploited. In order to further streamline the process, the project manager subordinates all other procedures to the processing capability of the resource constraint. This way, the critical chains of tasks that are constraining he project are scheduled in such a way as to benefit from the processing capability of the resource constraint without disrupting the process. Every other measure in this vein is deemed secondary to the process. The project manager/organization manages the project in accordance with how the constraint performs in the project. In other words, the buffers (feeding, project and resource) are managed in ways that systematically conform to the capacity of the (resource) constraint. In essence, the constraint becomes elevated to a point where it becomes highly efficient to the successful completion of the project. After the above

Hamlet Soliloquy Reflection Essays

Hamlet Soliloquy Reflection Essays Hamlet Soliloquy Reflection Paper Hamlet Soliloquy Reflection Paper Hamlet, is a classic play still read throughout the world to this day. Starring the character Hamlet, and the royal family of Denmark, the play includes everything from murder, betrayal, Incest, love and turmoil. Shakespeare Is renowned for his writing, in Hamlet specifically the seven soliloquies. Soliloquies are monologue type speeches spoken by Hamlet generally and give the sense of the situation and feelings of Hamlet at the time. After carefully annotating the seven soliloquies, one can see the different states of mind, situations and characterizations of Hamlet. The deader can relate to the feelings Hamlet experiences regardless of the fact most readers have never been In situations as extreme as Hamlet. In the first soliloquy titled, O that this too too sullied flesh would . 2), Hamlet speaks about his fathers death and how he is feeling about his mothers new relationship with his Uncle. Like Im sure anyone in his situation would feel Hamlet seems to be unsure. He loves his mother dearly and only wishes her happiness, but the fact she married her dead husbands brother less then two months following his fathers death worries Hamlet. : For myself personally, I have never experienced meeting like my parents divorcing or dying. However, to an extent I can relate because I can see from his point of view how awkward the situation is. I can relate in the aspect however of grief. Less than two months after his fathers untimely death, Hamlet still mourns his loss. However, Hamlet is crudely advised by his mother to Just get over it. She hopes that he can move on and I can relate to that. It Is hard to relate to a parent dying to breaking up with someone, but on a much smaller scale It seems very similar. Last year after I had a year relationship end, I was heartbroken, however he situation only became worse when after a few weeks; I felt a lot of pressure from my friends to just get over the situation. To put it like Shakespeare I am not a beast and I need time to mourn situations like these, time heals all wounds. The second soliloquy Is In Act 1, Scene 5 and Is again a monologue by Hamlet. The section Immediately follows the return of the newly dead king In the form of a split or ghost. This particular passage demonstrated the several emotions Hamlet was experiencing in this state of turmoil. The situation surrounding his fathers death has omen to light and Hamlet is faced with a decision of believing the ghost and avenging his fathers murder or forgetting the ghost ever spoke to him at all and sparing his uncle his life. Although I have never had to (seriously) debate killing someone I can certainly relate to the distress of having no Idea what to do In certain situations and contemplating a decision for hours before making one. Life Is full of compromises and I dont believe there is anyone out there who cant relate to having trouble making an important decision at least once in their lifetime that will have enormous mummifications for everyone around them. Whether it be, should I avenge my fathers murder and kill my uncle or something like should I stop being friends with someone or try and forgive them. These decisions could prove to haunt you In your future or your family as well as prove to be Instrumental In deciding your future character and The third soliloquy happens in Act 2 Scene 2. Hamlet at this point has decided he wants to avenge his fathers death and kill Claudia, but is having trouble and is getting frustrated at the fact that he cant plan and execute the killing as decisively as is father would have wanted. Hamlet is an interesting character because in no way is he either a hero or a villain. He has only the best intentions but regardless he still becomes determined to kill other. Regardless of what he does to convince himself to kill his uncle he cant and deep down I believe that shows that Hamlet truly is a moral person. Both Hamlet and myself are not perfect people. Neither of us are horrible people either, we strive to be the best and most responsible person we can possibly be and I think that is what makes his character so historically and emotionally appealing. In most literature you can see your protagonist as a clean-cut good guy. The fact that Hamlet breaks that stereotype and makes some decisions that many would see as immoral, makes the book that much more interesting. The Fourth of Shakespeare soliloquies begins with To be, or no to be: that is the question. As probably one of the most famous lines of the play, it truly is a great philosophical question about the decisions we make everyday. The quote itself found in act 3 scene 1 accurately describes Hamlets state of mind throughout the scene. Hamlet strongly debates the meaning of his existence at this point in time and whether it would be easier if he Just didnt exist, or if he were to commit suicide if that would simplify everything. Torn between making a decision, he decides he is a coward and that is why he cant kill himself. This whole concept is fairly relatable to the reader because, of course, sometimes its easier to Just want to disappear or die rather then face with the worlds challenges. However, like Hamlet discovers he must keep living because there is a purpose to his life we each resolve to plod on each day attempting to resolve or conflicts and struggles. The following two soliloquies come from the same section(3. 3). In this scene Hamlet definitively decides how he will handle the situation. First by addressing his mother in a cruel, not unnatural way about the situation and second by plotting the murder of his uncle Claudia. In the pursuit of vengeance Hamlet, postpones his killing until after he is done praying, so that rather than go to heaven his uncle can suffer as much as possible for what he has done. Vengeance is a strong emotion and everyone fantasize what it would be like to even the score once in a while, but as Hamlet will later learn, what goes around comes around. The last Hamlet soliloquy is the final act of vengeance for Hamlet. In an epic dual with his uncle, not only does he fatally wound Claudia, but also tragically himself. In the process his mother, the queen also becomes poisoned and essentially the entire royal family dies. At this point Hamlet sees the cost of vengeance. It is a moral we can all relate. For as it seems attractive to aggressively pursue an emotionally satisfying path to rectify a wrong, however, those paths often lead to repercussions one couldnt possibly imagine.

How I Got Noticed on Wattpad (and Won the Wattys)

How I Got Noticed on Wattpad (and Won the Wattys) Winning the World’s Largest Online Writing Contest – A Reedsy Success Story Author Rhà ³n is brand new to the writing world, but his Frontier Fantasy novel Oakwood Grange was recently selected out of 75,000 entries for a Wattys award - an annual international contest of authors held by Wattpad. The story also earned him a â€Å"Featured† spot on the website’s homepage for a monthly audience of 45 million, and later ranked in the top 40 of the Fantasy genre (top 40 of over 200 million stories). Here he shares some tidbits about how that success came to be, how other authors might do the same and get noticed on Wattpad.â€Å"Have you heard of Wattpad?†Three years ago I met a dude named Taran Matharu who asked me this while we were riding in a tour bus up the coast of northeastern Australia. Taran was in his early twenties at the time, traveling for adventure, as I was, and typing something on a laptop that - little did we know - within months would snowball several million online readers and earn him a top-tier agent, a six-figure adva nce from a major publisher, and a position on the New York Times Best Sellers list.â€Å"It’s this website where you post your stories and people read them and leave comments,† he explained.â€Å"Ah.†I had no idea what he was talking about, for back then it had not occurred to me to â€Å"post† my writing anywhere at all. To me, as far as writing was concerned, the well-trodden path was still the best to follow (albeit steeply uphill and exhausting): first, you finish the manuscript, then you query agents and get published. That’s what authors did if they wanted to go pro.Paths are not always as clear-cut as they first appear. In the years that followed I wrote my novel Oakwood Grange, my first, basically a stewpot of strange fantasy and Western grit - a Coraline meets Little House on the Prairie kind of tale, and when I finished it I recalled that old tour bus conversation and the website Wattpad. The latter seemed like a good place to start. I wan ted to get some eyeballs on my novel in order to find out what the global public thought of my ability to tell a story. It turns out they thought quite a bit. Within months I’d gone from absolute obscurity to winning a Wattys â€Å"Hidden Gems† award and attracting over 40,000 reads. Here’s how it was done, and how you might do the same†¦A Leaf in the Wattpad Forest: How to Get NoticedFor those using Wattpad for the first time, the initial steps are simple: sign up and create a profile, write some text (or, in my case, paste some text already written), click a button that says â€Å"Publish†, and presto - an audience of 45 million instantly have access to your story. The next steps are more daunting. As I write this, there are over 200 million independent story uploads on the site, every genre you can think of, with thousands more uploading every day. It’s a virtual avalanche of fiction, and most who venture there are buried from the start. So, to get noticed, my early strategy was to look for stories that were already immensely popular. This was easy. Wattpad categorizes all works by their respective genre, and each genre has its own â€Å"Hot† list ranking all that genre’s stories by their current level of readership. Leaving an insightful comment on a top-ranking author’s story encourages them to read your own story, and hopefully vote for it as well - reads and votes which automatically re-post as notifications to that author’s followers on a public feed.Another thing I did was socialize with Wattpad’s community at large. The website has a high-traffic forums section with various discussion â€Å"Clubs† (e.g. Romance, Fantasy, Teen Fiction, Horror, Classics, etc.), places where you can post questions or responses to the other users, occasionally mentioning what you’ve written. To me, the forums proved the best place to raise awareness of my story. I created threads that I could easily tie to some aspect of  Oakwood Grange, responded considerately to what others posted in reply, and also provided useful feedback to younger authors still cutting their teeth on concepts like â€Å"inciting incident† and â€Å"theme† and â€Å"active voice.†Write masterfully. Aim for Tolkien or Fitzgerald, Hemingway, Austen, Rowling, or Dickens - not the soon-to-be-forgotten E. L. what’s-her-face or others of her ilk. People notice quality and pass it on to other people.Edit. Nobody likes typos. Revise and then revise again. If you can afford an editor, on Reedsy, for example, all the better.Make sure that your book cover is fantastic . . . or at least make sure it doesn’t suck. I did the cover to Oakwood Grange myself. It’s okay, functional by Wattpad standards, but not what I would call amazing, and admittedly not good enough for the larger publishing industry.Post your full completed manuscript. Wattpad’s system a llows stories to be serialized, but common sense will tell you that most readers don’t want to begin reading something that’s half-finished.Add tags. Tags help people find your work by searching for relevant keywords. The more specific to the story, the better.Communicate with the community. At its core, Wattpad is a social site. So socialize. If you read someone else’s work, or comment or vote on it, they’re much more likely to reciprocate. Likewise, if you make an effort to engage new readers, or keep in contact with the readers you already have, more readers will be interested.Don’t get discouraged. A common complaint among new Wattpad authors is that no one reads their work. The good news is that wattpad readers are voracious. They want something fresh and good to feed their endless cravings, and they’re always prowling for that next delicious meal. If your story is enticing, trust me - they will sniff it out.Send Wattpad a request to m ake your story 'Featured'. Obviously, a website with 200 million stories cannot put all of them on its homepage, so there is an application and review process, and of course many disappointed authors. Nevertheless, the 'Featured' list is free, and highly visible, and it can bring your story thousands of new readers every week. The Sunlight in the CanopyAt this point, you might be wondering what value an author can get from Wattpad, or what makes it worth the cost of time and effort. Indeed, the sad truth is that the website offers no direct means for its authors to make money on their work, no Amazon-esque payment system, and that means that despite the legions who have read my story I still have not yet made a penny on it. Does that bother me? Nah. Awareness is my intention here - helping people realize that my work exists and it is work worth reading. In due course I expect that all of this awareness will pay off in the form of a publishing contract, as it did for Taran, as it has for many others. And even if that doesn’t happen, my author platform is steadily rising to a good place from which to dive into self-publishing.Meanwhile, Reedsy has been exceptionally useful in connecting me with an editor, Aja Pollock, who helped refine my story’s prose to prepare it for the greater wilderness beyond Wattpad. I came here for a level of professional expertise, wordsmithing, and attention to detail not easily found in other spheres, and I was not disappointed. After all, contests are admirable, but polishing a story until every facet shines and sparkles perfectly- that’s the real gem.You can read Rhà ³n's stories on Wattpad here!  Have you tried putting your stories up on Wattpad? Have you had any success from it? Let us know your thoughts and experiences, or any question for Rhà ³n, in the comments below!

Discusstion Case Study Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Discusstion - Case Study Example Most of the businesses these days are using information technology to expand their origins and this is where cyber crime comes into play. It has been found that cyber crime poses a threat of 2.4 billion to the businesses operating in the United Kingdom. Similarly it was also found that this crime brought upon a loss of $67.2 billion to the companies operating in the United States (Marsillac et al 2010). Considering the high numbers of these crimes, it is estimated that cyber crime is further increasing over time and it needs to curbed as soon as possible. Different regulatory organizations have been formed all over the world to overlook the issue of cyber crime. This essay revolves around the severity of cyber crime as it is found in the world and resorts to an option that would help to limit the crime in totality. It was found that Cyber Crime went up by 10.4 % in the year 2014 from the previous year which clearly shows a growth in the pattern of cyber crimes. In accordance to the costly cyber crimes it was found that insiders, service denials and internet attacks formed an important part of the paradigm (Kassner 2015). Discerning from the research it can be said that the most suitable policy to thwart cyber crime should revolve around the threat from the inside of the company. These insiders are the ones who know most about the company and they can easily access the information with the appropriate information. If these insiders are stopped from committing the crime, the rate can be drastically reduced. The role of managers in curbing the crimes cannot be emphasized enough but the organization should also make sure that they are following the principles of strategic survival in the market. The managers can make sure of this by affirming legitimacy to the firm which forms an utmost part of it s dealing with the competitors.

Conquering the Incas Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2500 words

Conquering the Incas - Essay Example The History of the Aztecs The civilization that has come to be known as the â€Å"Aztecs† was by no means made up of one, solitary culture. It was first made up of migratory barbarians, called â€Å"the last of the Nahautal-speaking cultures†, that wandered the area from the great migration out of the northern city of Tula, late in the twelfth century2. It is believed that the Aztec originally migrated from the island of Aztlan, which would come to be substantiated by their name, Aztec, meaning â€Å"people of Aztlan†3. Furthermore, they did not call themselves â€Å"Aztecs†, but â€Å"Mexica†, or â€Å"Colhua-Mexica†, in keeping with their lineage4. The Mexica people, or the Aztecs as they are now known, held no friends among their neighbors. Shunned largely because they were not a polite, civilized tribe, but made up of vicious barbarians willing to do whatever it took to survive, they migrated towards the Valley of Mexico and lived on the fringes of society, as they were the last of the peoples to settle in the area and by no means welcomed to it5. It was on the islands of Lake Texcoco in 1345, surrounded by marsh conditions, that they found refuge6. Unfortunately, they had not picked a desirable spot in which to settle. The land itself was fine, and suitable for their pursuits; this was hardly the problem. The issue lay in the fact that they were distinctly in the middle of two kingdoms, Azcapotzalco and Texcoco7. Though the first three kings of the Aztecs ruled as vassals for the despot king of Azcapotzalco, it was in the year 1426, when Itzcoatl, a direct descendent of the first Aztec king, ascended to the throne, the tensions between the Aztec and the Tepanec lords of Azcapotzalco reached the breaking point8. War broke out, though the Aztecs did their best to evade this, both by sending a special messenger and offering diplomatic relations9. The new king, however, possessed the gifts of leadership and speech; he gave one such speech that ignited the passions of his people and led them to war10. When all was said and done, a new alliance had been formed, the Triple Alliance between Texcoco, Tenochtitlan, and Tlacopan, which would become the heart of the Aztec Empire11. These acts set the stage for a new way of life for the Aztecs, a life as a warrior people. Though in truth the life that they were now leading had come full circle from the days of their savage barbarism when they first migrated into their lands, it is not hard to imagine the years of subjugated rule taking their toll on such a proud people. It is from Itzcoatl that Montezuma I (Montezuma the Elder), and his son, Montezuma II (Montezuma the Younger) would descend12. The younger Montezuma would meet headfirst the Spaniard contingents, headed by Hernan Cortes, and face the downfall of his empire. Hernan Cortes The man that would cause the downfall of the Aztec empire was born in 1485 in Medellin, a town that was considered †Å"an unimportant town in Estremadura†13. His parents were poor, though able to send him to university at the age of fourteen, where he was prepared for a career in law, due to the fact

Common Misconceptions of Islam Essay -- Papers

Did you know that there are currently 1.5 billion Muslims living throughout the world? One in every five people in this world is a Muslim. It is proven that Islam is the fastest growing faith in the world and also happens to be the most widely and openly misunderstood faith as well. Americans have misconceptions about Muslims concerning the rights of Muslim women and whether Muslims believe in the existence of Jesus. "When a gunman attacks a mosque in the name of Judaism, a Catholic IRA guerrilla sets off a bomb in an urban area, or Serbian Orthodox militiaman rapes and kills innocent Muslim civilians, these acts are not used to stereotype an entire faith." How many times is it heard that a Christian, Jew, or any other majority robbed a bank or was involved in a mass murder? Very few, which is ironic because once a Muslim does such perils, it is blamed on the faith on whole and not the individual that makes that decision. Islam can literally be translated to mean submission to God and is derived from the root word meaning peace. One should always remember to go to the true source of Islam and separate what the true religion of Islam says from what is portrayed in the media. Many consider Islam an exotic religion or even too extreme for the modern world. But this is because religion does not dominate everyday life in the West, where as, Islam is consider a way of life for many Muslims; who from the teachings of the Quran have learned to balance their material and spiritual life. Like Christianity, Islam only permits fighting in self-defense, in defense of religion (but not the excuse for your own personal or political purposes), or on... ...mething it all gets blamed on the faith? The American government has been at war for almost two years to give rights to the people of Iraq, but how much of a difference can they actually make when their own people don't get proper rights? They say the people have freedom of speech, religion, and etcà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ ¦but in reality they have nothing. If the government wanted unity between the people than they would create a better understand on a situation rather than turning citizens against each other. A recent example of how much the American government 'cares' for the rights of the people is shown through the pictures they found of the prisons are being taken care of in Iraq. Many misconceptions of religion, culture, and just people on a whole would be cleared if the government and media did not exploit them for their own advantage.

Nano Technology in Civil Engineering Essay

Nanotechnology is one of the most active research areas that encompass a number of disciplines including civil engineering and construction materials. Nano construction; Traditionally, nanotechnology has been concerned with developments in the fields of microelectronics, medicine and materials sciences. However, the potential for application of many of the developments in the nanotechnology field in the area of construction engineering is growing. In this paper a broad overview of the potential application of various nanotechnology developments in the construction engineering field is discussed, and the potential for further basic research that may lead to improved systems is evaluated. Nonotechnology; Nanotechnology is a field that is dominated by developments in basic physics and chemistry research, where phenomena on atomic and molecular level are used to provide materials and structures that perform tasks that are not possible using the materials in their typical macroscopic form. The  evolution of technology and instrumentation as well as its related scientific areas such as physics and chemistry are making the research on nanotechnology aggressive and evolutional. Not surprisingly, it is observed that expenditure on nanotechnology research is significant. However, the research is mainly moving forward motivated by immediate profitable return generated by high value commercial products . It has been established by study, nanotechnology in construction ranked 8 of 10 applications that most likely have impact in the developing world. Nanotechnology covers the design, construction and utilization of functional structures with at least one characteristic dimension measured in nanometers. The field of nanotechnology has developed in major leaps during the past 10 years. These developments were mainly driven by factors such as dedicated initiatives in the field (e.g. the National Nanotechnology Initiative) , APPLICATION OF NANOTECHNOLOGY IN CONSTRUCTION: Nanotechnology can be used for design and construction processes in many areas since nanotechnology generated products have many unique characteristics. These include products that are for: Lighter structure; Stronger structural composites e.g. for bridges etc ; Low maintenance coating ; Improving pipe joining materials and techniques ; Better properties of cementitious materials ; Reducing the thermal transfer rate of fire retardant and insulation ; Increasing the sound absorption of acoustic absorber ; Increasing the reflectivity of glass. There are large numbers of applications of nanotechnology in construction engineering/industry. Some of these applications are examined in detail below.   Concrete: Concrete is one of the most common and widely used construction materials. The rapid development of new experimental techniques makes it possible to study the properties of cementitious materials at micro/nano-scale. Research has been conducted to study the hydration process, alkali-silicate reaction (ASR), and fly ash reactivity using nanotechnology. The better understanding  of the structure and behavior of concrete at micro/nano-scale could help to improve concrete properties and prevent the illness, such as ASR. Addition of nanoscale materials into cement could improve its performance. In , Li (2004) found that nano-SiO2 could significantly increase the compressive for concrete, containing large volume fly ash, at early age and improve pore size distribution by filling the pores between large fly ash and cement particles at nanoscale. The dispersion/slurry of amorphous nanosilica is used to improve segregation resistance for self-compacting concrete. It has also been reported that adding small amount of carbon nanotube (1%) by weight could increase both compressive and flexural strength . Cracking is a major concern for many structures. When the microcapsules are broken by a crack, the healing agent is released into the crack and contact with the catalyst. The polymerization happens and bond the crack faces. The selfhealing polymer could be especially applicable to fix the microcracking in bridge piers and columns. But it requires costly epoxy injection. Structural Composites Steel is a major construction material. Its properties, such as strength, corrosion resistance, and weld ability, are very important for the design and construction. FHWA together with American Iron and Steel Institute and the U.S. Navy started to develop new, low carbon, high-performance steel (HPS) for bridges in 1992. Nano with concrete; The new steel was developed with higher corrosion-resistance and weld ability by incorporating copper nanoparticles from at the steel grain boundaries. Sandvik NanoflexTM is new stainless steel with ultra-high strength, good formability, and a good surface finish developed by Sandvik Nanoflex Materials Technology. Due to its high performance, Sandvik NanoflexTM is suitable for application which requires lightweight and rigid designs. Its good corrosion and wear resistance can keep life-cycle costs low. Attractive or wear resistant surfaces can be achieved by various treatments (Sandvik Nanoflex Materials Technology). MMFX2 is nanostructure-modified steel, produced by MMFX Steel Corp. Wireless sensors based on nanotechnology are used to alert engineers; Compared with the conventional steel, it has a fundamentally different microstructure- alaminated lath structure resembling â€Å"plywood†. This unique structure provides MMFX2 steel with amazing strength (three times stronger), ductility, toughness, and corrosion resistance. Due to high cost, the stainless steel reinforcement in concrete structure is limited in high risk environments. The MMFX2 steel could be an alternative because it has the similar corrosion resistance to that of stainless steel, but at a much lower cost (MMFX Steel Corp.). Nano coatings; Coating: The coatings incorporating certain nanoparticles or nanolayers have been developed for certain purpose. It is one of the major applications of nanotechnology in construction. For example, TiO2 is used to coat glazing because of its sterilizing and anti fouling properties. The TiO2 will break down and disintegrate organic dirt through powerful catalytic reaction . Furthermore, it is hydrophilic, which allow the water to spread evenly over the surface and wash away dirt previously broken down. Other special coatings also have been developed, such as anti-fraffiti, thermal control, energy sawing, and anti-reflection coating. Nanosensors: Nano and microelectrical mechanical systems (MEMS) sensors have been developed and used in construction to monitor and/or control the environment condition and the materials/structure performance. One advantage of these sensors is their dimension (10-9m to 10-5m). Nano sensors; These sensors could be embedded into the structure during the construction process. Smart aggregate, a low cost Piezoceramic-based multi-functional device has been applied to monitor early age concrete properties such as moisture, temperature, relative humidity and early age strength development. The sensors can also be used to monitor concrete corrosion and cracking. The smart aggregate can also be used for structure health monitoring. The disclosed system can monitor internal stresses, cracks and other physical  forces in the structures during the structures’ life. It is capable of providing an early indication of the health of the structure before a failure of the structure can occur. FUTURE CHALLENGE AND DIRECTION: As with most developing technologies, a major number of challenges exist during the initiation of the application of the technology into reality. It is important to be realistic and identify and plan for the limitations and challenges inherent in this process. In this section a short summary of selected challenges and limitations affecting application of nanotechnology in construction engineering are provided. The following main challenges and limitations can be defined: Fabrication, Health, Environment and Cost: Fabrication: Current efforts in the field of nanotechnology are focused on the fabrication, characterization and use of these materials on a nanoscale domain. This leads to most of the development work focusing on very small quantities of material that is typically far removed from the type of quantities required for typical construction infrastructure. One of the potential solutions to this is to focus on the nano materials to act as catalyser, thereby reducing the amount of nano material required substantially. Another viewpoint is that for many applications, the material does not necessarily have to be used on a nano scale to obtain a major improvement in benefits. This would be the case with reduction of the dimensions of cement, where a substantial improvement in strength can already be obtained through the large scale milling of the cement to a finer form than the traditional form. Although the cement may not be purely a nano material as yet, the benefits obtained would already be substantial. Nano in roads; Health: Nanotechnology based construction products might be harmful to health. For example, the nanotubes [14] might cause a lung problem to construction workers. In other words, it creates an environmental challenge to the construction industry as well. Environment: The effect of various nonmaterials’ on the natural environment is hotly debated in nanotechnology and environmental research. Various ongoing investigations focus on the uncertainty regarding the potential effects of materials that exist on the nanoscale with properties that are different than when using the material on a micro or macro scale. Some work in this regard shows that the potential effects may be minimal. As constructed infrastructure are provided in the natural environment, all materials used in the construction and maintenance of these facilities need to be compatible to the natural environment and their effects on the natural environment should not be negative. Typical potential problems in this regard include leaching of materials into groundwater, release of materials into airways through the generation of dust and exposure to potentially harmful materials during construction and maintenance operations. The nanotechnology becomes a double-edge sword to the construction industry. More research and practice efforts are needed with smart design and planning, construction projects can be made sustainable and therefore save energy, reduce resource usage, and avoid damages to environment. Cost The costs of most nanotechnology materials and equipment are relatively high. This is due to the novelty of the technology and the complexity of the equipment used for preparation and characterization of the materials Nano Technology in Transportation Engineering However, costs have been shown to decrease over time and the expectations are that, as manufacturing technologies improve, these costs may further decrease. Whether the expected decreases will render the materials as run-of-the-mill construction engineering materials will have to be seen, and depends largely on the benefits rendered through the application of these materials. Current opinion is that in special cases, the materials will enable unique solutions to complicated problems that cause them to be cost effective, which will lead to large-scale application of these specific technologies. In other cases the traditional methods for treating the problem may still remain the most cost effective. It is the challenge to the  construction engineer to solve real world transportation infrastructure problems and provide a facility to the general public at a reasonable cost. CONCLUSIONS †¢Nanotechnology is a rapidly expanding area of research where novel properties of materials manufactured on the nanoscale can be utilized for the benefit of construction infrastructure †¢A number of promising developments exist that can potentially change the service life and life-cycle cost of construction infrastructure. : †¢Focused research into the timeous and directed research into nanotechnology for construction infrastructure should be pursued to ensure that the potential benefits of this technology can be obtained to provide longer life and more economical transport infrastructure REFERENCES: www.asme.org/nanowebcast www.aggregateresearch.com www.nanoforum.org www.gogle.com

Essay about Pornography and The Decline of Sexual Morality

Sexual morality has declined in America today. The immoral life can be seen all around us. We see it in drugs, alcohol, movies, magazines, gangs, teenage pregnancy, pre-marital sex, and society as a whole. A person can walk into almost any convenience store and purchase a magazine depicting naked women. Videos and movies with graphic sex scenes can be rented or watched in any movie theater. They have become more common than ever before. Almost every movie with an R rating will have at least one sex scene. Even Forrest Gump, a highly acclaimed movie, had a sexual act and nudity involved. Also public television has been known to show nudity and sex. The first amendment was drafted, not to protect boring, popular, or inoffensive views, however, but to protect the right of people to hold and express controversial ideas. There is a line, though. A television network cannot show images of children having sex, but it can show a naked woman, if the perspective is such that certain parts of her body are not seen. In Germany, access is blocked to certain chat rooms which contain pedophile pornography. In Denmark, the government has dropped all legal barriers against pornography for adults.
